Reports Overview: Definitions, Periods, Formats and Downloads

Neural Log Reports menu covers Report Definitions, period presets, saved named formats, Memorized Reports and authenticated PDF/CSV/JSON downloads. Learn the navigation and output options.

Neural Log provides read-only reporting through the Reports menu. Reports capture saved business data in a fresh secured read transaction, never altering financial records or generating new transactions. This page explains the Reports menu structure, how to open a report, choose periods and formats, and export results.

Reports menu navigation#

The main menu bar in Neural Log includes these top-level items: Traffic, Logs, Billing, Accounts-Receivable, Reports, Setup, Tools and Security. Open the Reports menu to reach the report families documented in this section.

Path Purpose
Reports > Report Definitions Browse legacy report-definition records. These are read-only reference entries.
Reports > Accounts Receivable Reports > AR Aging Reports — Select Customers Choose customers and open aging summary or detail reports.
Reports > Accounts Receivable Reports > AR Reconciliation Reports — Select Customers Choose customers and open reconciliation summary or detail reports.
Reports > Transactions > Transaction Reports — Select Customers Choose customers and open transaction, invoiced sales, comparative sales or adjustment activity reports.
Reports > Memorized Reports Browse and use saved named report formats.
Reports > Log Reports > Saved Scheduling Times — Select Station Choose a station and period to list scheduled occurrences from saved logs.

The startup view after sign-in is Traffic > Customer Accounts Browser. You can reach reports from the menu at any time.

Before you start#

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to Neural Log.
  • You have a role that grants read access to the report data and the relevant business objects (customers, stations, invoices, logs).

Permissions

Report access is role-based through Setup > Administrator Controls > Users and Passwords under Security. Only the Administrators role is bootstrapped; additional roles are site-configured. If a report action is not visible, ask your administrator to confirm your role permissions.

Report period controls#

Most report dialogs offer a period selector with preset date ranges. You can choose a preset or enter custom From and To dates.

Available presets#

The current implementation supports these period shortcuts:

  • Custom dates — enter explicit From/To dates.
  • Today
  • Tomorrow
  • Yesterday
  • This Week (Sunday through Saturday)
  • This Broadcast Week (Monday through Sunday)
  • This Month
  • Last Month
  • Month to Date
  • This Quarter
  • Last Quarter
  • Quarter to Date
  • This Year
  • Last Year
  • Year to Date

Calendar weeks run Sunday through Saturday. Broadcast weeks run Monday through Sunday, consistent with the broadcast billing period. The reference date is captured when the report opens and remains stable until you reopen the report. Changing a preset or date clears any prior download link and requires a fresh Get Report.

Date behavior#

  • Dates are inclusive: From and To are both included in the range.
  • Reversed ranges (From after To) are refused with a recoverable message.
  • Dates before SQL minimum (January 1, 1753) are rejected.
  • Changing the period preset or editing dates automatically selects Custom dates.

Saved named formats and Memorized Reports#

You can save a report's settings under a unique name and recall them later.

What a saved format stores#

A saved format records these settings only:

  • Title and subtitle
  • Page setup (orientation and margins)
  • Font family and size
  • Customer selection scope
  • Historical classification filters
  • Sorting and grouping choices

A saved format does not contain report data, monetary results, credentials or captured dates. Loading a format keeps the dates currently chosen in the report dialog.

Save a new format#

1

Step 1#

Run a report successfully with the settings you want to keep.

2

Step 2#

In the report dialog, switch to the Formats tab.

3

Step 3#

Enter a Format name (up to 100 characters, trimmed, unique across active formats).

4

Step 4#

Optionally enter a Group name to organize formats.

5

Step 5#

Choose Save as new.

Save as new never overwrites an existing format.

Update an existing format#

1

Step 1#

In the Formats tab, select the format you want to change.

2

Step 2#

Adjust settings and run Get Report successfully.

3

Step 3#

Choose Update to replace the selected format with the current settings.

Update checks the format's retained revision and rejects stale edits. If another user changed the format while you had it open, your update is refused.

Archive and restore#

  • Archive Format hides a format without deleting it. Archived formats cannot be loaded.
  • Restore Format makes an archived format active again. Restoring fails if another active format now uses the same name.

Use a saved format#

From Reports > Memorized Reports, browse the list of active formats. Select one format row and use the appropriate action:

  • Use Format — Select Customers — for financial report formats.
  • Use Format — Select Station — for scheduling report formats.
  • Use Format — Select Order — for order report formats.

A popup prompts you to choose the current scope (customers, station or order). The format loads its stored settings but keeps the dates from the current report session.

Restore Default Format#

The Restore Default Format action resets supported format settings to their defaults for the current report type:

  • Title and subtitle
  • Customer sorting levels
  • Transaction sorting levels
  • Customer and activity grouping, direction and page breaks
  • Historical classification filters
  • Landscape margins (for receipt formats)

Restore Default Format deliberately keeps the selected report type, current date range and comparative measure. It does not delete saved named formats. After restoring, run Get Report again before exporting.

Page settings, fonts and titles#

Page setup#

Report dialogs offer a General tab with page orientation and margins. Supported choices:

  • Portrait or Landscape
  • Four margins in inches

The default paper is A4 for receipts and A3 landscape for transaction reports. Font and page changes clear prior download links and require a fresh Get Report.

Fonts#

The current server font catalog includes Arial, Calibri, Courier New and Times New Roman, with body sizes 9 through 12 points. The default is null (interpreted as Arial 9). Changing fonts clears downloads and is applied on the next Get Report.

Titles#

Use the Title tab to set a custom title and subtitle:

  • Title: up to 160 characters
  • Subtitle: up to 240 characters

Blank title uses the report type's standard heading. Blank subtitle omits that line. Title changes are presentation-only and do not alter the financial capture or calculations.

Authenticated single-use expiring downloads#

Report exports use authenticated, owner-bound, single-use expiring download links. Every export recaptures permissions and the complete input signature. If the underlying data changed after the report was generated, the export is refused.

Supported export formats#

Format Description
PDF DevExpress XtraReports output with repeated headings and exact signed values.
CSV Quoted cells with formula protection; preserves exact captured strings.
JSON Exact decimal values as strings with metadata about the report capture.

Export behavior#

  • Click Print PDF, Export CSV or the JSON equivalent after Get Report succeeds.
  • The download link appears below the report results. Click it to save the file.
  • Changing any report setting (dates, filters, title, format) removes the old link.
  • Exports perform a fresh secured capture; stale or unauthorized data is refused.

Report settings visibility#

Scheduling reports include a toolbar action to Hide Report Settings or Show Report Settings. Hiding expands the results to the full available width while keeping all settings drafts intact. Showing restores the settings panel without recalculation. Closing and reopening a report starts with settings visible.

  • Log Reports — saved scheduling reports including Log, Bumped Items, Diagnostics and Avails Distribution.
  • Financial Reports — AR Aging, Reconciliation, Transaction Reports, Invoiced Sales and Adjustment Activity.
  • Workflow Overview — how reports fit into order-to-invoice-to-payment workflows.
