Neural Log runs in a web browser and opens on Traffic > Customer Accounts Browser after you sign in. This page explains how to sign in, how the menus are organized, how list and detail views work, and how Save, Cancel and recovery protect your work, especially for financial actions.
Before you start#
- Your administrator gives you the application address and a user account. There is no self-registration.
- What you can see and do depends on the roles assigned to your account in Setup > Administrator Controls > Users and Passwords. If a menu item or action is missing, ask your administrator. See Users and Security.
- Each radio group uses its own database. Make sure you are working in the correct group's application.
Sign in and find your way#
Open the application#
Open the address supplied by your administrator and sign in with your assigned user name and password.
Start at Customer Accounts#
The first screen is Traffic > Customer Accounts Browser, a list of advertiser accounts. Select a row to open the customer's detail view with its orders, copy and account history.
Use the menus#
The navigation follows the original Natural Log menus:
| Menu | Contains |
| --- | --- |
| **Traffic** | Customer Accounts Browser, Broadcast Order Browser, Network Spot Scheduler, Special Events, Copy Manager, Bulk Contracts |
| **Logs** | Commercial Logs, Log Templates |
| **Billing** | Invoice Records, Pending Broadcast Invoices |
| **Accounts-Receivable** | Customer Accounts Browser, Transaction Browser, Payment Records, Deposits, End-of-Month Closing |
| **Reports** | Report Definitions, Accounts Receivable Reports, Transactions, Memorized Reports, Log Reports |
| **Setup** | Administrator Controls, Account Reps, Agencies, Avail Types, Product Codes, Revenue Sources, Revenue Types, Taxes and Fees, Time Classes, Voice Talent, Account Rep Sales Goals |
| **Tools** | Calendar, Calculator, Reminders |
Security contains framework user and role management and is normally used only by administrators.
There is no separate Sales menu. Customer and order work is under Traffic; customer balances and payments are under Accounts-Receivable.
List views and detail views#
Most menu items open a list view (a browser) with search, sorting, filters and selectable columns. Opening a row shows its detail view, where related records appear as tabs or nested lists. Many workflows, such as charging a log or issuing an invoice, open in a popup panel over the record you started from.
Save and Cancel#
Edits stay as a draft on your screen until you choose Save.
- Save writes the record. If validation fails, the message explains what to correct; nothing is saved.
- Cancel discards your unsaved edits.
- Previewing, printing or downloading a report never saves pending edits. Save or cancel first when an action asks you to.
- Popup panels opened from an unsaved parent record usually refuse to start until the parent is saved or cancelled.
Stale screens and recovery#
Neural Log checks that the information you reviewed is still current when you act on it.
- If another user changed the record, or the screen was opened from an older state, the action is refused with a stale or changed-context message. Close the panel, use Refresh or reopen the record, review the current values and try again.
- After a nested action such as charging a log, a parent screen may still show old buttons. Use Refresh on the parent screen.
Preview is not posting#
Many financial screens have separate steps. A preview or trial invoice shows what would happen and writes nothing. Saving a log or reconciliation stores operational evidence. Charge Log creates pending invoice items. Only final issue posts an invoice to accounts receivable, and payments are posted when you complete the payment entry. See the Workflow Overview.
Versions#
Neural Log builds use a four-part version number such as 1.0.0.123. When you report a problem, ask your administrator which version is deployed. Release notes are in Release Notes.
